‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajak freaks out after contestants celebrate wrong answer

Nobody listens to Pat Sajak anymore.

The legendary “Wheel of Fortune” host freaked out when contestants celebrated one of their answers that turned out to be incorrect while time remained on the clock.

During one of the toss-up puzzles on Monday night’s show, the three fan-favorite contestants Luidgi Altidor, Rufus Cumberlander and Cynthia King were asked to complete a “[hrase”

As the letters began to appear, showing “_ _ N ‘ _   _ _ _ K  A _ _ _,” King buzzed in but drew a blank, leaving the puzzle up to her two opponents to solve.

But when “_ _ N ‘ _   LO _ K  AW _ _” popped up, Cumberlander proudly, and enthusiastically shouted “DON’T LOOK AWAY,” to which Altidor and King celebrated with him for making the guess.

“No, No, No, No, No,” Sajak yelled at the contestants who were busy giving fist bumps to each other and the timer trickled down to the incorrect buzzer.

“No, it’s not correct,” the longtime presenter exclaimed, but it was too late as the full answer was shown on the board.

“CAN’T LOOK AWAY,” the puzzle read.

As the three contestants realized their mistake Sajak decided to celebrate himself.

“Everybody’s congratulating everybody, and WE get to keep the money!!”

With no one solving the puzzle correctly, King was rewarded the points for the segment, as she won the two previous puzzles, pushing her score to $19,390, which would eventually become the winning amount.

Wheel of Fortune fanatics may recognize the trio, who have each appeared on the prime-time game show before being brought back for “Fan Favorites Week.”

King was recently on the show this past February, with Cumberlander making his debut in 2015 and Altidor first appearing in 2020.

Monday’s gaffe is just the latest in a long list that Sajak can add to the greatest flubs he’s seen.

Last week, another failed answer went viral, but for a little different reason.

During Thursday night’s opening segment, the contestants were asked to solve another “Phrase.”

As parts of the four-word answer, “_ _ _ _   _N  T_E  _ _ _T!,” were on the board, one contestant confidently buzzed to solve the puzzle

“Right in the butt?” Tavaris blurted out to the shock of his fellow contestants and the crowd, who burst into laughter.

No,” longtime host Pat Sajak responded, managing to keep his composure.

As the crowd was still laughing, contestant Blake solved for the correct, innocent answer: “This is the best!”

Sajak’s time on the show is winding down in the next few months alongside the show’s 41st season.

In June 2023, Sajak, 77, announced his retirement from the beloved game show, saying “it’s been a wonderful ride.”

Cynthia King, right, went on to win the segment and the show. ABC

His final episode, taped on April 5, will air on Friday, June 7.

When the show returns for Season 42 in the fall, Ryan Seacrest will be at the helm, taking over hosting duties for Sajak.
