Wendy’s worker shot at drive-up window in beef with DoorDash driver

A 20-year-old worker at a Southside Chicago Wendy’s was shot at the fast-food eatery’s drive-up window after getting into a spat with a DoorDash driver, according to reports.

The employee was working the window at the South Lafayette Avenue restaurant around 1 a.m. Thursday when a food-delivery driver pulled up and asked to pick up a DoorDash order, CBS News in Chicago said.

The unidentified worker said she didn’t have a record of the order, and the pair got into a beef — with the driver demanding that she still fill it, the outlet said.

When the worker said she couldn’t and notified her manager about the dispute, the driver opened fire.

The bullets shattered the drive-up window and left the female worker with a wound to her right arm.

The gunman sped off and remained on the loose, while the wounded employee was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening wound, CBS reported.

In a statement, officials at Wendy’s said they would work with cops to catch the culprit.

“Our number one priority is the safety of our employees,” the statement said. “We are deeply disturbed by this senseless act of violence and we are grateful that our team member will recover.

“We will do whatever we can to work with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”

DoorDash did not respond to a request for comment from the news outlet.
