Warren: Musk, Ramaswamy leading government waste office 'seems REALLY efficient'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) joked Thursday about President-elect Trump’s decision to appoint Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as co-leads of his new government efficiency panel.

“The Office of Government Efficiency is off to a great start with split leadership: two people to do the work of one person,” Warren wrote in a post on X. “Yeah, this seems REALLY efficient.”

Trump tapped Musk and Ramaswamy to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that “will provide advice and guidance from outside of Government.”

The panel, which the president-elect suggested could become “’The Manhattan Project’ of our time,” will work with the White House and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to “drive large scale structural reform,” Trump said in a statement Thursday night.

“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk said, according to the announcement.

Musk played a key role in Trump’s campaign, loading millions of dollars into a pro-Trump super PAC that led the campaign’s ground game in swing states and amplifying the president-elect’s message on his social platform X.

The billionaire, who joined Trump on election night, has reportedly remained at Mar-a-Lago in recent days, hanging out with the president-elect’s family and joining most of his meetings, according to The New York Times.

Trump has rapidly named members of his new administration in the days since the election. He also announced Thursday that Fox News host and veteran Pete Hegseth will serve as Defense secretary in his next administration, a surprise choice to many even in Trump’s orbit.

Warren criticized the president-elect’s choice and called for his nomination to be rejected.

“A Fox & Friends weekend co-host is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense,” the Massachusetts Democrat also wrote on X. “I lead the Senate military personnel panel. All three of my brothers served in uniform. I respect every one of our servicemembers. Donald Trump’s pick will make us less safe and must be rejected.”
