Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) delivered a sports analogy during a recent Fox Business appearance, where he was asked to give his thoughts on the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Kennedy compared the Biden administration’s border policy to the game plan of a football program, noting that if any football team were to deliver such a dismal record, the people deemed responsible for the failure would have long since been fired.

It’s time for America to wake up and smell the incompetence: The border is wide open.
I read somewhere that if the White House were a football team and performed like this, we would’ve already fired the coach, the athletic director, and the mascot. pic.twitter.com/RuzBK603gT

“It’s time for America to wake up and smell the incompetence,” Kennedy began. “I mean, the border is wide open, and as I’ve said before, that’s man-made — and the man’s name is Joe Biden.”
“And if the White House — how can I put this? If the White House were a football team and performed like this, we would have already fired the coach, the athletic director, and the mascot,” Kennedy continued. “Americans want better and it keeps getting worse.”
The situation at the border has come to a head in recent days as President Joe Biden’s administration has taken dramatic steps to prevent Texas authorities — under the direction of Republican Governor Greg Abbott — from enforcing federal immigration laws themselves.
The Supreme Court handed Biden a win earlier this week, telling U.S. Border Patrol agents that they can cut down razor wire barriers put in place by the Texas National Guard — but Abbott has pushed back, declaring that Texas has the right to protect its own border if the federal government refuses to do so.

Twenty-five of the 26 remaining Republican governors — every one but Governor Phil Scott (R-VT) — have voiced support for Abbott’s course of action.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border. We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally,” a statement signed by the 25 read.
