Highlights from the Rangers’ Game 3 win over the Capitals, which gave them a commanding 3-0 series lead:
3 stars
1. Vincent Trocheck
Having registered at least one point in all three games, Trocheck chipped in another goal and assist on Friday, including a dagger of a power-play goal at the end of the second period.
Finishing with 28 saves, the most he’s had to make so far in the series, Shesterkin was spectacular when the Rangers needed him most. Especially during the six penalty-kill sequences, the Russian netminder came up big.
3. Mika Zibanejad
Registering two primary assists in the victory, Zibanejad has also recorded at least one point in all three games.
Key moment
Barclay Goodrow’s go-ahead shorthanded goal in the first period took all the air out of Capital One Arena, which also gave the Rangers a spark to power to the end of the game.
Quote of the day
“[A 3-0 series lead] is big. Obviously, it’s a best-of-seven series, you have to win four. The last one is always the hardest to get, so there will be no taking our foot off the gas. We’re going to have to up our game and bring it to another level to hopefully get another win.”
