Trump to hold Wisconsin rally on April 2

Former President Trump will hold a rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin next week in one of his first major events since becoming the presumptive GOP nominee.

Trump will address supporters at an event in Green Bay on April 2, his campaign announced. It marks just the second rally Trump will have held in recent weeks, following a March 16 event in Ohio in support of Senate candidate Bernie Moreno.

The former president’s ability to hold rallies moving forward may be limited after a New York judge set a trial date for April 15 in Trump’s case over an alleged hush money scheme during the 2016 campaign. Trump will be in court four out of five days during the week, leaving him scarce time to hold large events for his campaign.

Wisconsin is expected to be one of the most closely contested battleground states in November.

President Biden carried the Badger State in 2020 by roughly 20,000 votes, and polls have shown an extremely close race there between Biden and Trump ahead of November.

A Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll published Tuesday morning showed Biden leading Trump by 1 percentage point after previously trailing him by 4 points in a February survey.
