President-elect Trump celebrated his election win at a UFC championship fight in New York late Saturday.
Trump “walked out to a roaring standing ovation” ahead of the pay-per-view event, The Associated Press noted.
UFC’s account on the social platform X posted a photo and video of Trump with organization’s CEO, Dana White, a supporter of the president-elect, alongside other Trump allies like Elon Musk, whom Trump picked to co-lead a government efficiency department, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and singer Kid Rock.
“President @RealDonaldTrump in the building for #UFC309,” the post read, referencing the heavyweight championship fight at Madison Square Garden.
A video package entitled “The great comeback in American History” was played for the crowd, Trump briefly danced to the Village People’s “YMCA” and thrust his fist upward while “Takin’ Care of Business” played.
The president-elect also reportedly shook hands with the UFC broadcast team that included Joe Rogan, who hosted Trump on his podcast ahead of Election Day.
Musk, Johnson and former GOP presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy all noted their attendance at the event on social media as well.
Longtime Trump aide Margo Martin posted a video early Sunday morning of the president-elect on the social platform X with UFC heavyweight champion Jim Jones, who had just won a fight against Stipe Miocic for the title, giving “his UFC heavyweight championship belt to” Trump.
White supported Trump throughout his 2024 bid for the president, speaking alongside him during his official acceptance speech for the presidency.
“Nobody deserves this more than him, and nobody deserves this more than his family does. This is what happens when the machine comes after you,” White said at the time.
