Travis Kelce to become NFL’s top-paid tight end with Chiefs extension

Now it’s Travis’ turn to make some news.

A week after megastar girlfriend Taylor Swift dropped her long-awaited “Tortured Poets Department” album and hours after brother Jason Kelce joined ESPN’s NFL broadcast team, Travis Kelce got his own moment in the spotlight.

The Chiefs star has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid tight end, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.

Specific financials of the deal were not released, but Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl winner with Kansas City, has the third-highest cap hit among tight ends entering the 2024 season — his $15.463 million is behind only Mark Andrews’ $16.9 million and Taysom Hill’s $15.789 million.

The 34-year-old’s cap hit goes up to $19.8 million for 2025, the last season of the four-year, $57.25 million deal he signed in 2021.

The man responsible for connecting with him on the majority of his 11,328 yards, 907 catches and 74 touchdowns over his career was thrilled with the news.

“I told yall I’ll never let him leave!!,” Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wrote on X. “Congrats my guy!”
