TikTok Fanatic Threatens U.S. Senator Over Bill To Force Sale Of App: ‘I Will Find You And Shoot You’

An avid supporter of TikTok — a controversial social media app that is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese Communist Party-controlled company — threatened to murder Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) this week over a bill in the U.S. Senate that would force the sale of the company or else it will be banned in the U.S.

“This is a voicemail my office received last night,” Tillis posted on X. “TikTok’s misinformation campaign is pushing people to call their members of Congress, and callers like this who communicate threats against elected officials could be committing a federal crime.”

“The Communist-Chinese aligned company is proving just how dangerous their current ownership is,” Tillis added. “Great work, TikTok.”

The company has repeatedly sent out alerts to all of its users encouraging them to call members of Congress and pressure them into not passing the bill. The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the bill last week in a 352-65 vote.

The New York Post said that the company said in a recent alert to users: “If the Senate votes to ban TikTok, this means you could lose your right to self-expression.” The push alert also provides users with the information about how to contact their state’s senators.

In the audio clip released by Tillis, a woman can be heard saying while laughing: “Okay listen, if you ban TikTok, I will find you and shoot you.”

“That’s people’s job and that’s my only entertainment,” the caller said. “And people make money off there, too, you know. I’m trying to get rich like that. Anyway, I’ll shoot you and find you and cut you into pieces. Bye.”
