Terri Irwin still holds a torch for her late husband.
Steve Irwin’s widow explained to Us Weekly Thursday why she is not interested in dating anyone 17 years after the Crocodile Hunter’s death.
“While there are a lot of wonderful men in the world, can you see another Steve Irwin?” she asked. “I just can’t. I’d be like, ‘I love that you’re a librarian, and the Dewey Decimal System is cool, but I got to go jump a crocodile.’ … Forget that.”
Terri, 59, gushed that she already had her “happily ever after” while married to Steve from June 1992 to September 2006.
The couple welcomed daughter Bindi, now 25, and son Robert, now 20, during their time together.
“I had the best marriage in the whole world for 14 years, and I’m very comfortable with the person I see in the mirror,” the Australia Zoo owner told the magazine. “I’m very lucky. … So I’m OK to be on my own now.”
Terri clarified that while she is “lonely for Steve,” she does not consider herself to be “a lonely person” in need of a partner.
Since the conservationist’s death at age 44, Terri has gone on to become a grandma.
Bindi and her husband, Chandler Powell, welcomed a baby girl named Grace in March 2021, exactly one year after their wedding.
Before giving birth, the then-pregnant star gushed to “Entertainment Tonight” about what a “good, good grandpa” her late father would have been to her little one.
“I don’t think we would’ve ever seen our daughter,” Bindi said in February 2021. “He would’ve just whisked her away into the zoo, and it would’ve been perfect.
“But it is so nice that we’ll be able to introduce her to her grandfather through all of the documentaries,” she continued. “It’s really special.”
Bindi has since been vocal about the unlikelihood of her daughter’s healthy arrival, revealing her endometriosis battle and ensuing surgery to have 37 lesions removed in March 2023.
As for Robert, the wildlife photographer last dated late actor Heath Ledger’s niece.
He and Rorie Buckey got together in 2022, announcing their breakup in a joint Instagram Story statement in February.
