‘Ted Lasso’ Actress Berates Photographer Who Asked Her To Show Leg: ‘Don’t Be A D***’

Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham chastised a photographer who she said asked her to show some leg as she posed for photos at the Olivier Awards in London on Sunday.

The 49-year-old responded to the photographer’s request in a moment that was caught on video by a fan. It’s since been circulating on social media.

The “Ted Lasso” star, who was hosting the event, stopped on the steps of the venue and could be heard saying, “Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man. Don’t be a d***, otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say ‘show me leg.’ No.”

Waddingham shook her head and walked away, still speaking emphatically to the unidentified photographer as she moved on.

The British actress and TV presenter will appear in “The Fall Guy” and “Mission Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part 2” later this year.

Waddingham performed a number with singer and pianist Joe Stilgoe at the beginning of the awards show on Sunday, which she also hosted last year. The event celebrates the best of London theater. A few winners of the night include singer Nicole Scherzinger, “Succession” star Sarah Snook, and “Game of Thrones” actor Mark Gatiss.

“Ted Lasso” is a popular Apple TV+ sports comedy-drama television series based on a character Jason Sudeikis portrayed in promotional media for NBC Sports’s coverage of England’s Premier League. The show follows Ted Lasso (Sudeikis), an American college football coach hired to lead an English soccer team whose owner secretly hopes the team will fail. But Lasso leads them to unexpected success.

Waddingham plays the character Rebecca Welton, the new owner of AFC Richmond, on the show.

The comedy’s first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, making it the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy show history. It went on to win a slew of other accolades, including the Best Actress Emmy for Waddingham in 2021.

Waddingham said she keeps her Emmy in her young daughter’s bedroom as a reminder that “her mummy will only ever be away when it’s for a really, blooming good reason.”
