Sen. Tim Scott alleged that President Biden is overseeing a “resegregated” America while railing against his opposition to school choice.
Scott (R-SC), 58, widely seen as a top contender in former President Donald Trump’s veepstakes, claimed Trump would give black students more opportunities.
“If you look at cities like Chicago today, the elimination of charter schools under Joe Biden resegregated schools in America,” Scott told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
“We need four more years of common sense under Donald Trump, and not four more years of segregation under Joe Biden.”
The South Carolinian also hearkened back to Vice President Kamala Harris’ famous debate clash with Biden, 81, back in 2019, in which she slammed his past public opposition to federally mandated busing.
“If you’re really concerned about racial justice in America, let’s not forget, Joe Biden is the guy that talked about racial jungles as a result of desegregation,” Scott chided. “His own Vice President Kamala Harris said he supported segregation.”
Harris’ jab at Biden came during the thick of the Democratic primary in 2020. Despite that viral exchange, Biden ultimately tapped her as his running mate.
Scott, who has long been an advocate of school choice, faulted Biden for not pushing back against teachers unions and cited his budget proposals to slash funding for charter schools.
“The schools in our largest cities are being resegregated. Joe Biden’s Department of Education has halted the growth of charter schools that provides greater diversity and opportunities,” he said.
“The President of the United States refuses to stand up to the teachers’ unions, and as a result, the future of these kids will be lower and devastated.”
The Post contacted the Biden-Harris campaign for comment but didn’t immediately hear back.
Scott also weighed in on Donald Trump’s 34-count hush money case out of Manhattan, in which the former president stands accused of falsifying business records to conceal payments allegedly to suppress negative press.
“Well, there’s no crime, so I assume that they will actually find him innocent,” Scott said. “The only person guilty in that courtroom is DA [Alvin] Bragg — guilty of corrupting the justice system, guilty of not doing his job, and guilty of trying to frame an innocent man.
“It’s really the two-tiered justice system that has so many Americans concerned about fairness in our country.”
Trump has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him.
