Robert De Niro can’t help but gush over his daughter’s “sweet” first birthday.
In a rare move, the “Killers of the Flower Moon” star, 80, openly raved about his youngest child, daughter Gia — whom he shares with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen, as she celebrated her first big milestone.
“She had a little cake, it was very nice, sweet,” De Niro said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The actor also praised his baby girl, calling her “pure joy.”
“There’s nothing about her, there’s no judgement, there’s no anything. She just is what she is and it’s just pure joy for god sakes,” he continued.
De Niro welcomed the baby girl — his seventh child — in May 2023.
He’s also father to daughter Drena, 56, and son Raphael, 47, whom he shares with first wife Diahnne Abbott; twins Julian and Aaron, 28, whom he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith; and Elliot, 25, and Helen, 12, whom he shares with ex-wife Grace Hightower.
He has four grandchildren, including Drena’s son, Leandro, who tragically died from an accidental overdose last year at the age of 19.
In his February interview with People, De Niro gave readers a glimpse into his family’s life after the rest of his brood adjusted to the new addition.
“The kids all get a big kick out of her. The grandkids even. She’s their aunt — [and] they’re about to be teenagers!” he said.
At the time, De Niro showered praise onto his newborn, calling the special time they shared together “wondrous.”
“She’s such an adorable baby. So sweet,” he told the outlet.
He added, “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her.”
As for his co-parenting relationship with Chen, 45, the “Goodfellas” star opened up about their situation in an interview with the Guardian last October.
“I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work,” he told the outlet. “And we have help, which is so important.”
De Niro and Chen were first linked together in 2021 after they met on the set of his 2015 film “The Intern.”
