Quinnen Williams dominates on ‘D’

Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ 21-13 win over the Texans on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium:

Hero

Garrett Wilson keyed the Jets’ first victory in six weeks with two touchdown catches after halftime.

He finished with nine catches for 90 yards, highlighted by his 26-yard scoring grab with 12:54 remaining that gave the Jets the lead for good.

On third-and-19, Aaron Rodgers put the ball up for Wilson, who made a leaping, one-handed grab that was initially ruled incomplete, but reversed after a replay review.

Zero

C.J. Stroud lost for the second time in as many seasons at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets beat him soundly a year ago and he was unimpressive on Thursday, completing just 11 of 30 passes for 191 yards. He also lost a fumble.

Stroud clearly missed injured receivers Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs.

Unsung hero

Quinnen Williams led a fierce pass rush that sacked Stroud eight times.

The standout defensive tackle had 1.5 sacks, two tackles for loss and four quarterback hits.

Key stat

3 Touchdown passes by Rodgers.

The last Jets quarterback to throw that many TD passes was Mike White against the Bears on Nov. 27, 2022.

Quote

“I told him he might get kicked out [of] Adidas after that one. That looked like he is headed over to Jumpman with me. We’ll see, I’m going to talk to some people with that one.”
