After four days of jury selection, the first criminal trial of a former president gets rolling this week in New York.
Judge Juan Merchan indicated that he expects opening statements to begin Monday in the hush money trial of former President Donald Trump, after 12 jurors and six alternates were sworn in last week.
Both sides will make opening statements before prosecutors begin their case against Trump. Prosecutors will need to convince the jury that the former president falsified business records with the intent to defraud and to commit or further another crime to prove he is guilty.
Court will be in session by midmorning, and will adjourn at 2 p.m. for the Passover holiday.
