This is the fiend being hunted Friday for the horrific caught-on-camera attack in the Bronx in which a woman was hooked with a belt from behind and then dragged unconscious to be raped between two cars.
The NYPD released photos showing the face of the suspect who was masked in the disturbing footage that emerged Thursday of last week’s horror attack.
It showed the attacker walking up behind the 45-year-old victim — then lassoing her with a belt, pulling her to the ground “causing her to lose consciousness,” police said.
“The male then dragged the victim between two cars and sexually assaulted her,” the NYPD said in an appeal for the rapist.
In the picture, the suspect wears white sweatpants, a blue GAP sweatshirt and a white do-rag, similar to the material covering the rapist’s face in the shocking video, which showed the attacker had cropped hair. He also has a backpack and is thought to be about 5-foot-9, police said.
Cops hope the photo will help them identify the man, who allegedly strangled a 45-year-old woman into unconsciousness at about 3 a.m. on May 1 near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue, cops have said.
The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the violent sexual assault, cops said.
The victim was brought to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.
However, the victim has stopped cooperating with authorities, according to police sources.
The heinous crime comes as the department’s crime stats from April revealed that rapes are slightly higher this year compared to April 2023, rising by six to 124 this year.
As of May 5, a total of 511 rapes had been reported throughout the city, the same total as last year during that period.
