Offense found new way to be bad

Grading the Jets’ 31-6 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.

Offense

This unit found a new way to be bad. There was only one three-and-out. There was only one turnover. Yet, it was a terrible performance where they did not reach the end zone and did not have a play longer than 15 yards.

QB Aaron Rodgers (22-of-35, 151 yards, 1 fumble, 72.4 QB rating) looked afraid to get hit and completed just one pass longer than 10 yards in the air.

Davante Adams (13 targets, 6 catches, 31 yards) and Garrett Wilson (6 targets, 5 catches, 41 yards) were non-factors in the game.

The Jets went 0-for-3 in the red zone and looked like a team with no answers.

Defense

This was the worst defensive performance from the Jets this season.

They could not tackle. They could not cover. They could not do anything right.

The Cardinals rolled up 406 total yards and 28 first downs. QB Kyler Murray (22-of-24, 266 yards, 1 passing TD, 126.7 QB rating, 3 rushes, 21 yards, 2 rushing TDs) looked like he could do anything he wanted.

The Cardinals had three 70-yard touchdown drives and one of 88 yards. CB Sauce Gardner missed a huge tackle and he was just one of many Jets defenders who were grasping at air.

Special Teams

Rookie kicker Spencer Shrader made the first two field goals of his career and looks like he could provide some stability at the position for the Jets.

Thomas Morstead only punted twice in the game and placed one inside the 20.

There was not much of a return game as the teams combined for eight touchbacks and just three punts.

Coaching

The Jets had extra rest and everything to play for and delivered a complete and total dud. This is not all on interim coach Jeff Ulbrich. He did not miss a tackle in the game. But he deserves a good amount of blame.

The Jets continue to look like a sloppy, unprepared team and his defense was at the middle of it in this game. The Jets looked like they had no idea what the Cardinals were doing.

The Jets focused all week on stopping the run and the Cardinals beat them with the pass. Todd Downing did not have a bad game but I would question three straight passes from the 3-yard line early in the third quarter.
