Nikki Glaser thinks Ben Affleck was ill-prepared for “The Roast of Tom Brady” and made all the jokes about himself.
“I haven’t watched it [back] because I don’t like to watch people bomb,” the comedian, 39, said of the Netflix special during an interview on Barstool Sports’ “KFC Radio” podcast Sunday.
Glaser, who received praise for her own jokes about Brady, is convinced Affleck, 51, “didn’t prepare.”
“He’s someone who’s famous enough that he thinks that this is probably beneath [him] to do this, so [he was like], ‘I’m just gonna do a favor. It’s not going to be that big of a deal,’” she said, adding that he seemed to be “phoning it in.”
The stand-up comic explained that the “Argo” star probably had to pitch joke ideas to a group of writers and went with the angle of being “mad about tweets.”
Glaser agreed with podcast host Kevin Clancy that Affleck’s topic of choice was “self-centered” and more about his hatred of internet trolls than Brady.
“There were jokes that could have been used to fill up an entire set that would have been amazing, but either they couldn’t get him on the phone enough to work out something, he didn’t practice enough or he just picked a bad premise and then he had to stick to it the whole time,” she speculated.
“It didn’t work right away, and so it’s not gonna work later,” she added.
Affleck was a surprise guest at the May 5 live show, where he awkwardly spoke more about his own experience with online haters than the evening’s roastee.
“You guys out there talking s–t behind your f–king keyboard, that doesn’t make you a fan, that makes you a bitch,” he said onstage.
Not only was Affleck’s roast deemed one of the worst sets of the night, but he was also dragged for his unrecognizable appearance and even sparked plastic surgery speculation.
Glazer, meanwhile, has been riding high since stealing the show with jokes about 46-year-old Brady’s 2022 divorce from Gisele Bündchen and how he lost millions of dollars in a cryptocurrency blunder.
