Ana Navarro, a co-host of ABC’s “The View,” said that former Republican White House candidate Nikki Haley has “lost every modicum of dignity” due to her support for President-elect Trump’s campaign.
“Kamala Harris lost an election. Nikki Haley has lost every modicum of dignity. Because after first criticizing him, then she took it back, then she ran against him, then she endorsed him, then she practically begged him to let her campaign with him, and now he is saying, ‘Bye, Felicia,'” Navarro told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday, as reported by Mediaite.
Navarro’s comments come as Trump announced in a post on social media on Saturday that Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not be joining his administration.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” the Republican leader wrote on Truth Social. “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Haley has had a rocky past with Trump. She served as United Nations ambassador during the president-elect’s first administration before mounting her own bid for the presidency in 2024 and becoming the last candidate standing against him in the GOP primary, exchanging jabs with the Republican leader both before and after bowing out of the race.
Despite her criticisms of the president-elect, however, Haley endorsed Trump and said in September she was “on standby” when it came to campaigning for him. In the lead-up to the election, after facing increasing pressure to be a more active advocate, she wrote that it was an “easy call” to back the then-GOP nominee, leaning on the argument that he was better than the alternative.
Navarro added during the Monday interview that she views Trump’s social media post as evidence that he wants “100 percent loyalty from everybody he appoints.”
“But I think what Trump is making evident through this, that tweet, is that he wants loyalty, 100 percent loyalty from everybody he appoints, and that he wants MAGA people, not neocons, not people that are considered foreign policy hawks,” Navarro said.
The Hill has contacted Haley’s press team for comment.
