Nathan Wade’s ‘media consultant’ interrupts CNN interview as he’s pressed on Fani Willis relationship timeline

A “media consultant” for Nathan Wade interrupted a taped TV interview Wednesday as the ousted former Trump prosecutor was being grilled on the timeline of his relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The bizarre moment unfolded after Wade revealed that he still “regularly speaks” with Willis and has told the embattled DA that the election interference case against former President Donald Trump “will live on” despite his removal.

“When did the romantic relationship between the two of you start?” CNN’s “The Source” host Kaitlin Collins asked Wade before the intrusion

Wade refused to provide a timeline of his romance with Fani Willis. CNN

“Yes, so we get into – there’s been this effort to say that, OK, these exact dates are at issue and these exact dates are,” the former special prosecutor began to respond, when he apparently noticed his handler waving off camera.

“I’m getting — I’m getting signaled here,” Wade said.

A man, identified by CNN as Wade’s “media consultant,” then approached the set and requested to speak with his client off-mic.

The pair huddled together away from Collins for nearly a minute, apparently discussing how to answer the simple question.

Wade smiled as he sat back in his chair after the impromptu consultation.

“Everything OK?” Collins asked Wade.

“Yeah,” the former prosecutor responded, before dodging the question.

Wade argued – after the mid-interview meeting – that the timeline question is “a pending issue” before the Georgia Court of Appeals

“I don’t choose to say or do anything that would jeopardize the case or the court’s ruling,” he said when pressed about the fuzzy answers he’s previously provided about when his relationship with Willis started.

Attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents Trump co-defendant Michael Roman in the sprawling racketeering and influence case, has argued that the “improper” and “clandestine” relationship started as early as 2019.

Wade was hired by Willis to lead the investigation on Nov. 1, 2021, one day before he filed for divorce. He has testified that the tryst started “around March” 2022.

Willis, 52, told Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee that it began “between February and April” of that year.

Neither has provided a precise date of when the fling began.

Both Wade and Willis have similarly given conflicting time periods for when their romance ended.

Wade claims they ended things in June or July of 2023, while Willis maintains they broke up in August of that year.

Trump, 77, was indicted by the Georgia special grand jury on Aug, 14, 2023.

Legal proceedings in Trump’s 2020 election interference case, for which he faces 13 felony counts, are on pause as the Georgia appeals court considers his motion to disqualify Willis for alleged prosecutorial misconduct.

McAfee had previously ruled that the embattled DA could remain on the case as long as her former lover stepped down — which he subsequently did.

Trump’s appeal seeks to have McAfee’s decision overturned before his case heads to trial.

The former president’s legal team argues that Willis’ entanglement with Wade amounted to a conflict of interest, and that the DA misused public funds by benefitting from her boyfriend’s earnings when he took her on lavish vacations

“The only thing I regret is the timing of it,” Wade said of his romance with his former boss.
