The body of a missing Israeli boy has been found in the West Bank, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced Saturday.
“The body of 14-year-old Binyamin Achimair was located in the area of Malachei HaShalom a short while ago,” the IDF posted on social media platform X.
The boy went missing on Friday morning and was “murdered in a terrorist attack,” the Israeli military said.
The military said security forces will continue looking for those who are suspected of the boy’s murder.
The investigation has been handed over to the Sin Bet, the Israel Security Agency, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the alleged murder “abominable” and a “serious crime.”
“IDF and Shin Bet forces are in an extensive pursuit of the despicable murders and all those who cooperated with them,” Netanyahu said, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Achimair’s disappearance sparked a large attack from settlers on a Palestinian village Friday and Saturday, The Associated Press reported.
The news of the boy’s death comes as tensions rise over the weekend in the Middle East. Israel is reportedly bracing for a major retaliatory attack from Iran, after Israeli strikes in Syira killed seven members of the Iranian military.
