Mindy Kaling roasted Prince Harry by referring to him as some book author who is married to her friend.
The “Mindy Project” star, 44, posted a photo of herself smiling with her arm around the Duke of Sussex, 39, via Instagram on Thursday while making a playful dig at his controversial 2023 memoir, “Spare.”
“Met my friend’s husband at a work event,” she captioned the snap. “Seemed pretty cool. Said he wrote a book. Gonna go check it out!”
Kaling, who is friends with Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, was attending a BetterUp summit in San Francisco on Wednesday when she ran into the renegade royal.
She and Harry, the chief impact officer for the tech organization, were both speakers at the event.
The “Office” star also shared several snaps from backstage, including an inside look at her dressing room, ahead of the discussion.
Kaling looked chic in an “I Love U” cardigan by Libertine ($2,200), black jeans and red suede pointed-toe heels. Meanwhile, Harry was dressed casually in a gray blazer layered over a white button-down shirt and dark jeans.
Several of the actress’s fans flooded the comments section of her post with delight over her lighthearted jab.
“Ahhh just my friends husband….. 😂😂,” one person wrote.
“Ohhh yeah I think I’ve heard about this guy! Is that Meghan Markle’s husband?” a second joked.
“He looks familiar 🤔,” a third netizen commented.

During the event, Kaling and author Adam Grant hosted a conversation titled “Leading with Laughter,” during which they discussed their parenting approaches.
The “Sex Lives of College Girls” co-creator has two children: daughter Katherine, 6, and son Spencer, 3.
“Gentle parenting I am rethinking. It’s this thing lots of LA and New York and certain progressive cities do, and sometimes you just have to scream at your kids … so I am rethinking it!” she joked, according to Hello!
Harry and Markle, 42, are also parents to two kids: Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
Kaling notably appeared on Markle’s now-defunct podcast, “Archetypes,” in 2022 and discussed the stigma that comes with being single in her 40s.
The “Suits” alum has since parted ways with Spotify, but she signed on for an endeavor with Lemonada Media in February.
Along with developing a new podcast, Markle recently announced the launch of her Goop-esque lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and an upcoming Netflix cooking show.
