Maxine Waters Says ‘Domestic Terrorist’ Trump Supporters Should Be Investigated For Potential ‘Civil War’

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) sounded off over the weekend about “domestic terrorists” who support former President Donald Trump, saying they should be investigated for potentially plotting a “civil war.”

During an MSNBC interview on Sunday, Waters called Trump’s rhetoric “dangerous” and said she would ask the criminal justice system to tell her “what’s going on,” Fox News reported.

“I’m worried that he’s so divisive and that he’s talking about retribution, and they’re talking about revenge and I think that that’s dangerous. He’s even mentioned civil war at one point, talked about there would be bloodshed,” Waters said.

“I am going to spend some time with the criminal justice system, with the justice system asking them, ‘Tell us what’s going on with the domestic terrorists. Are they preparing a civil war against us? Should we be concerned about our safety? What is he doing with this divisive language? It is dangerous, and we are going to have to make sure that we understand that we’re not at risk with this man talking in the way that he’s doing.”

Waters went on to slam Trump for being “in love” with foreign leaders and countries.

“This is not good for this country, but he does not care about democracy,” Waters said. “He does not care about the Constitution of the United States. He’s in love with Putin and Russia and Kim Jong Un and North Korea and all of that.”

“And so it’s not just that he’s a criminal. This is a man who disrespects the Constitution and democracy, and we have got to find out what they’re doing as domestic terrorists tried to take over the government on January 6,” she said.

Waters suggested Trump supporters might engage in violent attacks and said she was trying to start an “investigation.”

“How far is this going to go?” Waters asked. “Are they going to be attacking? Whom are they going to attack? What are we going to do? We’re trying to get an investigation going about that.”

Back in 2018, Waters called for Americans to harass Trump’s Cabinet members if they encountered them in public places.

“Let’s stay the course,” Waters told a crowd of her supporters at a rally in Los Angeles. “Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
