Matt Lauer made a rare appearance in New York City with his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, to attend Don Lemon’s wedding.
The former “Today” show co-host and Abas were photographed holding hands Saturday while waiting outside Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Midtown Manhattan.
Lauer, 66, dressed in a traditional navy suit jacket and a white-and-blue striped shirt, while the marketing guru opted for a rust-colored striped dress and red cardigan.
The couple were two of approximately 140 guests at former CNN host Lemon and Tim Malone’s nuptials. A number of those guests included celebrities such as “View” co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and Ana Navarro as well as Alec Baldwin, “Real Housewives of New York City” alum Luann de Lesseps and “Today” alum Tamron Hall.
The group celebrated at nearby Polo Bar after the church ceremony.
Lauer and Abas, whom he’s been dating for five years, were last seen attending a “Today” producer’s wedding in December 2023. Lauer and his longtime co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, beamed in photos as they reunited in public for the first time in years.
NBC fired Lauer in 2017 for “inappropriate workplace conduct” after he allegedly sexually harassed a female staffer during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Guthrie, 52, announced the stunning news to millions of viewers at the top of the “Today” show — moments after she heard the news herself.
“This is a sad morning at ‘Today’ and NBC News,” she said. “As I’m sure you can understand, we are devastated. I’m heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear friend and partner.”
Co-host Hoda Kotb added that she had known Lauer for years and “loved him as a friend and a colleague.”
“It’s hard to reconcile the man who walks in every day” with the person mentioned in the complaint, Kotb said.
Lauer since has lived a quiet life out in the Hamptons, though sources told Page Six last year that the disgraced news anchor was interested in making a comeback.
