Man Sentenced For Murdering Wife, Cutting Body Into 200 Pieces

A British man has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife, whose body was found cut up into more than 200 pieces.

Nicholas Metson, 28, of Lincoln, England, pleaded guilty earlier this year to killing his wife, Holly, whose dismembered body was found in Bassingham last year. On Monday, Metson was sentenced to life in prison, according to the Independent.

Metson stabbed Holly at least four times in March 2023, killing her, and then dismembered her body and kept her in his kitchen for a week before paying a friend £50 to dump the body parts in River Witham. After Holly’s death, Metson used her Facebook account to make her friends and family think she was still alive, claiming she had left Metson and moved to Manchester. Metson also sent himself money from her bank account.

Police investigating the crime found Google searches on Metson’s phone that included “How to get rid of a dead body,” “What benefits can I get if my wife dies,” and “Does God forgive murder?”

Holly’s remains were found in the river on March 25, 2023, though parts of her were never found. Metson denied killing his wife until February of this year when he pleaded guilty to her murder, the Lincolnshire Police said in a press release at the time.

Metson was immediately suspected of killing his wife as police smelled bleach and ammonia when they went to the couple’s home after Holly went missing. They also found bloodstained sheets and a large bloodstain on the floor in the bedroom.

The man whom Metson paid to dispose of the body, 28-year-old Joshua Hancock, also pleaded guilty in February to disposal of a corpse with intent to obstruct or prevent a coroner’s inquest. Hancock had also previously denied any involvement in the case.

Members of Holly’s family spoke during the sentencing, with her mother calling her killer an “evil monster” who convinced Holly that her family was abusive. This, Holly’s mother said, caused the family “unimaginable pain,” according to the Independent.

“Her last moments being filled with pain will haunt us forever. Her life was taken by someone who quite clearly has no regard for human life,” Holly’s mother said at Metson’s sentencing. “We were prevented from seeing Holly in the years leading up to her murder. We were prevented from seeing her before her death and due to his monstrous actions, he made sure we were prevented from seeing her after her death. Holly will always be in our hearts, we will never forget her and the impact she had on our lives.”
