A man choked a terrified 6-year-old girl while stealing her and her sister’s gold necklaces — which were birthday gifts from their mother — in Brooklyn, cops say.
Police released images of the wanted suspect Saturday, saying he is the man who approached a 14-year-old girl and her little sister Wednesday at their apartment building near Eastern Parkway and Ralph Avenue in Crown Heights.
The older girl said she was walking with her sister on their way home from school when the man suddenly cornered them in the building’s tight lobby, demanding the girls give up their necklaces, which were birthday presents from their mom.
“The man grabbed me by the neck, and then my sister looked, and she started getting scared,” the 14-year-old girl told ABC 7. “I didn’t have time. … I couldn’t react. I only looked at my sister, and she was screaming.”
Police said the suspect choked the 6-year-old girl with one hand while using the other to yank off her necklace, with the man then snatching the older sister’s jewelry, too, before fleeing the scene.
The two girls were taken to the Maimonides Medical Center and were both listed in stable condition.
The suspect is believed to be between 25 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and with dark hair tied into a ponytail.
Officials said he was seen in a white t-shirt while carrying a Target shopping bag but then took out a gray hooded sweatshirt from the bag to cover himself.
