Kenny Pickett’s wife, Amy, reacts to QB’s trade to Eagles

Kenny Pickett’s biggest supporter “could not be more excited and grateful” about their next chapter in Philadelphia.

Shortly after news broke Friday that the Steelers are trading the 25-year-old quarterback to the Eagles following two seasons in Pittsburgh, Pickett’s wife, Amy, reacted to the move on social media.

“Could not be more excited and grateful!! Skooooo Birds!!” Amy posted in one Instagram Story over the weekend.

She added in a separate slide: “Looking forward to our next chapter 💚 all love.”

Pickett, a New Jersey native who cheered for the Eagles growing up, will now back up Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles announced the terms of the trade Saturday, with the team receiving a 2024 fourth-rounder (No. 120) in addition to Pickett.

In return, the Steelers get a 2024 third-round pick (No. 98) and two seventh-rounders for 2025.

It’s been a dizzying few days in Pittsburgh, which agreed to terms with former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson following two dismal seasons in Denver.

The plan was for Pickett — the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft — to compete in training camp with Wilson, 35, for the role of QB1, according to ESPN, which noted, “Internally, Wilson was viewed more as the starting quarterback.”

With that, “Pickett preferred to get a fresh start elsewhere,” per the report.

In response to Adam Schefter’s initial report of the trade Friday that stated, “Once Pittsburgh signed Russell Wilson, Pickett preferred to move on,” Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports posted on X: “NOTE: ‘preferred’ is not bc Kenny Pickett is running away from competition. He was explicitly told by the #Steelers Wilson would start, reneging on the pledge he’d been given that after two years of chaos, he’d finally be put in position to succeed – per sources apprised of convo.”

Wilson, who agreed to a one-year deal with the Steelers, now has a new backup in Justin Fields, who was traded from the Bears on Saturday.

Through his two seasons in Pittsburgh, Pickett completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 25 games.

Amy has long supported Pickett’s career as she frequently posted pics on social media from Steelers game days.

The couple tied the knot last summer.
