Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos returned to Live with Kelly and Mark this morning after some time off, but one particular element of their show somehow still managed to follow them off-screen, as well.
The two co-hosts dished on their recent trip to Palm Springs, which was followed by a wedding and a trip to the University of Michigan for their son’s wrestling team awards banquet.
“We’ve been a lot of places since our vacation,” Ripa explained.
As the two co-hosts prepared to introduce their daily round of “Stump Mark” — the show’s trademark game in which contestants call in and try to stump Consuelos in hopes of winning a Live mug and “I Stumped Mark” t-shirt — Ripa noted that they actually “played this game on one of [their] hikes.”
“By the way, I have to send that lovely lady a shirt,” she added. “Because she did stump Mark on the hike.”
Consuelos recalled the woman telling him, “I want to stump you one day.”
“And I go, ‘Oh yeah? Let’s do it right now,’” he continued. “She goes, ‘Let’s go.’”
While Live EP Michael Gelman assured Consuelos from off-camera that this loss “doesn’t go on [his] record,” Ripa revealed the interim prize that Consuelos had attempted to offer the woman who stumped him.
“And then he tried to take off his sweaty hiking shirt and give it to her,” she teased. “And she was like, ‘That’s OK.’”
Consuelos smugly clapped back, “If you weren’t there, she would’ve taken it, sweetie.”
Following an eye roll from Ripa and roars of laughter from the studio audience, Consuelos cracked up and added, “Believe me.”
Ripa couldn’t help but laugh as well, as she quipped, “I just want to live in your mind.”
