Kate Middleton’s date with NYC dazzled city royalty and locals

Kate had a date with the Big Apple and lit up the city.

Kate Middleton visited New York City in 2014 and dazzled everyone in her presence while she was here for a whirlwind three-day trip with her husband, Prince William.

They painted the town red — visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 9/11 Memorial and even the Barclays Center for a basketball game. At the time, she was five-months pregnant with Princess Charlotte, but that didn’t stop her from exploring and interacting with Gotham royalty and locals alike.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed at the Carlyle Hotel, a favorite of William’s mother, Princess Diana — and their suite was valued at up to $10,000 per night, according to E! News.

When they arrived, a crowd of 200 gathered outside the Upper East Side hotel, which was decorated with a British flag for the occasion.

Some Kate fans who assembled were holding flowers to give to her and one even brought a life-sized cardboard cut-out of the princess.

Pearl Parnes of Greenwich Village, who was in the crowd of fans gathered, told Vanity Fair that she hoped to meet Kate, whom she considered a “very good role model.”

The latest on Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis:

The couple attended a dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the 600th anniversary of Scotland’s St. Andrews University, the college where they met.

Guests included other notable names like Anna Wintour, Princess Eugenie, Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy, who paid about $10,000 each to attend, according to Artnet.com.

They also sat courtside at the Barclays Center to watch the Brooklyn Nets play the Cleveland Cavaliers, and upon entering the arena, they received a standing ovation.

Then-Cavaliers star LeBron James even gave the royals a jersey for their son, Prince George, one for their then-soon-to-be newborn and cupcakes from his hometown.

“I gave them a present and thanked them for coming here to America to watch our game … It was their first time watching a basketball game, so it was an honor that I would be that guy they decided they wanted to watch,” James told The Post at the time.

During halftime, they met Jay-Z and Beyonce and an eyewitness to Princess Kate and Queen Bey’s conversation told E! News, “Bey and Kate talked about their kids. They asked each other, ‘How old is yours?’ They basically bonded over motherhood.”

The royals also paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial and left a note that read, “In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild. William and Catherine.”

“I love them so much,” Kristina Crossan, a 24-year-old teacher from Edison, NJ, who witnessed the tribute, told the Daily News at the time.

Kate was taken aback by her experience at the memorial. She “talked about how in awe she was of the enormity of the space,” Allison Blair, chief of staff at the museum, told the outlet. “It was something she didn’t anticipate.”

She also made time to visit East Harlem’s Northside Center for Child Development, which provides behavioral health programs for low- income children, with Chirlane McCray, wife of then-mayor Bill de Blasio.

The little ones at the center thought they were meeting Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen.”

“She didn’t have a crown,” 4-year-old Andrew told The Post at the time.

Mila, a 6-year-old student, gave Kate a bouquet of roses and received a hug from the duchess.

“I gave her flowers. It was amazing,” the little girl said.

On Friday, Middleton, 42, revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer after having “major abdominal surgery” in January and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” a gaunt Kate said in a bombshell videotaped statement.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The royal did not disclose what type of cancer she is battling, but insisted she is “well and getting stronger every day.”
