Jonathan Scott revealed he was a “blubbering mess” while proposing to his girlfriend of four years, Zooey Deschanel.
HGTV’s “Property Brothers” stars Jonathan and Drew Scott stopped by the Page Six studio where Jonathan shared exclusive details about the event that left him and his soon-to-be bride shedding happy tears.
“We were in Glasgow, Scotland. We were on a family trip with the kids, and, I had planned it all in advance for doing the tour and everything. And then at the end, we cleared the castle,” Scott said.
“We were in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, and we were the last people on the property and I had it set up so they said, ‘Oh, there’s a pipe band playing. You want to go listen?’ Yeah, great.”
Jonathan planned the entire ordeal and made sure Deschanel’s children — daughter Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik — were also part of the festivities.
“We went up to this beautiful bluff overlooking the city, and this pipe band is playing. And then all of a sudden a guitar steps forward and started playing Neil Young, our song, ‘Harvest Moon,’ and she’s like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then the kids pulled up a banner that said, ‘Will you marry me?’” he shared.
“She cried and she said yes. And I’m a blubbering mess. Like the wedding is going to be a disaster because I will not be able to get through,” he said.
The couple announced their engagement in August 2023. Jonathan popped the question to the “New Girl” actress, 44, with a ring estimated to be worth $250,000.
They celebrated their engagement with a romantic getaway to Paris that same month.
Jonathan and Zooey met while filming an episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” where they appeared alongside their siblings, Drew Scott and Emily Deschanel, respectively, in August 2019.

She was also married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012.
Scott was previously married to flight coordinator Kelsy Ully. They started dating in 2007 and they were married just a few months later.
However, they broke up in 2010 and their divorce was finalized in 2013. He has no children.
