Good news romcom fans: a John Tucker Must Die sequel is reportedly in the works.
Costars Sophia Bush, Jesse Metcalfe, and Arielle Kebbel confirmed the news during a panel at Epic Cons Chicago, Entertainment Weekly reports.
“I’ve been hearing rumblings about this script circulating Hollywood — apparently it’s amazing,” Metcalfe, who played the titular role, said. He added that, while he hasn’t read the script yet, he would “definitely love to be a part of it.”
Kebbel confirmed that there is certainly a script and gave some major hints about what the sequel could look like. “The rumor is true,” she said. “I started producing a few years ago. There is a script. We are very proud of it. It does involve all of the OG cast.”
“Jesse may or may not get a chance to change, which would be very exciting,” she hinted. She also added that fans should expect to see some new characters, as well.
But there was only one thing on Metcalfe’s mind in light of this major news: “Do I get a chance to wear a thong again?”
“I’m here for it. I can’t wait to unleash this dad bod on the big screen,” he added.
Bush also added that she’s “ready to go” if a new film is in the works.
John Tucker Must Die starred Kebbel, Bush, and famed singer Ashanti as a group of popular high school students who seek revenge on their former lover when they learn they had all dated him at the same time. But with the help of good girl newcomer (played by Brittany Snow), the girls set out to break his heart.
Though Kebbel confirmed that the sequel film may include a “cool new cast,” it looks like fans of the 2006 romcom should expect to see their faves back on screen.
John Tucker Must Die is streaming now on Prime Video.
