Relief at the rescue of four Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip and hope for the remaining captives were the main themes from US elected officials and politicians on Saturday.
Commendations for the Israeli military’s execution of the dangerous operation was another focus.
President Joe Biden mentioned the daring rescue of Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andri Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv, during his joint press conference in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron Saturday.
“We won’t stop working until all the hostages come home and a ceasefire is reached,” Biden vowed, referring to the 116 remaining hostages who have been held in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7.
“We can only welcome the liberation of four hostages by the Israeli army,” Macron added. “We want to achieve an immediate ceasefire.”
Politicians in the US also opined on the news of the rescue.
“What outstanding news that Israel rescued four hostages from Hamas terrorists,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) posted on X shortly after the news broke. “It’s a reminder — this is a fight between good and evil.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) simply shared a link to a story about the rescue mission with three alert emojis.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) went a similar route by re-sharing the IDF’s announcement about the rescue with a praying hand emoji.
