It’s Election Day in America and the stakes have never been higher, a fact which late night host Jimmy Kimmel can’t quite believe.
Kimmel complained during Monday’s (Nov. 4) broadcast of Live that he “still” doesn’t understand “how this race is so [close].”
“This is like ordering a Coke and the waiter asks, ‘Is gasoline okay?’” he joked.
He added that it’s especially shocking after The Daily Beast recently released over a hundred hours of interview footage between journalist Michael Wolf and Jeffrey Epstein, who claimed he was Donald Trump’s closest friend and detailed several scandalous memories he shared with the former president. But the story barely made an impact on Trump’s campaign, Kimmel complained.
“We heard a bombshell audio tape in which Jeffrey Epstein says he was Trump’s closest friend and shares a bunch of crazy stories. This barely moves the needle. Remember Mitt Romney went down because he put a dog carrier on the roof of his car?” he said. “We just got 100 hours of Jeffrey Epstein saying he and Trump were BFFs. I didn’t even get an alert about it on my phone, I got no texts on this.”
Kimmel went on to highlight the fact that Epstein said Trump has “no moral compass” because he “likes to have sex with the wives of his best friends.”
“Do you know what kind of lowlife you have to be for Jeffrey Epstein to say you have no moral compass? That’s like R. Kelly getting mad at you for having the toilet seat up,” Kimmel said.
He later pointed out that “none of the child welfare advocates” who still support Trump “seem to care about any of this.”
Epstein was arrested on child sex trafficking charges in 2019. He was later found dead in his jail cell while awaiting trial in later that year.
Trump has already dismissed the tapes, calling the claims “false smears” and “election interference” in a statement to The Daily Beast.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
