Jets using sandwich from fan to help sign Mike Williams

Maybe it will turn out to be the best $21.32 that a Jets superfan has ever spent.

Content creator @NYJ_Matt was inspired Tuesday morning to order a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese – the truly authentic New Jersey breakfast sandwich – on DoorDash and have it delivered to the Jets facility for receiver Mike Williams.

Williams, who has two career 1,000-yard seasons, is on a free-agent visit to Florham Park, N.J., on Tuesday after he was a salary-cap casualty of the Chargers last week.

“Jets need a WR2 badly,” @NYJ_Matt said in a direct message to The Post. “I have not done this before. If my gesture could increase the odds of him signing by 0.1%, I’m doing it every time.”

Matt, who has nearly 35,000 followers on X and a “Broadway Jets” YouTube page with about 1,360 subscribers, declined to share his last name because of a desire to keep it private from his employer.

The Jets’ social media account played along with the idea, tweeting out a photo of the sandwich in a bag sitting on a desk in the main lobby after it arrived.

The sandwich cost $8.50 at Morristown Diner but fees, taxes and tip ran up the bill.

Why a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese? Does Matt know something about Williams’ tastes that the public doesn’t?

“I got it because TEC is the top item in North Jersey,” he wrote.

Matt’s order instructions for the driver were to “please hand it to the person at the door and say this is for Mike Williams and let him know catching passes from Aaron Rodgers is more fun than catching from Bryce Young.”

Williams also reportedly is visiting Young’s Panthers and the Steelers.

Sure enough, he was sent (and later shared) a photo of the security guard at the entry booth holding his sandwich bag.

The Jets are looking for a receiver to slide between Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard on the depth chart.

If only it was as simple – and creative – as ordering one off of a DoorDash menu.
