Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are in New Orleans celebrating their fifth year hosting Today together, and the co-hosts have been enjoying everything the city has to offer.
Kotb kicked off Friday’s Today broadcast by asking her co-host if she was feeling “hoarse.”
“Um, I lost my voice and some of my dignity but we’re still here!” Bush Hager replied, before adding, “We are having the best time.”
The co-hosts later discussed the health practices of something called “speech fasting,” which is when you hold off on speaking until mid-day.
“Could you do that?” Kotb asked the live audience, who cheered in response. “Not this crowd.”
Bush Hager then chimed in. “I could do it,” she said.
She then proposed an idea to the crowd: “I want us all to try this. Let’s go home to our homes, to our parents, to our children, to our spouses, and let’s say, ‘Hey honey, Henry, I know I’ve been gone for a couple of days.’”
She continued, “‘But I gotta try this new therapy called [speech fasting] so I won’t be able to talk to the kids. And actually, it’ll be best if y’all didn’t talk to me until noon.’ And see how that goes over!”
The Today hosts have been having a “wild” time in New Orleans.
Bush Hager dished on how they spent their first night in the Crescent City. Even Kotb agreed that she “goes wild here.”
“Hoda took a shot; we went into a dive bar, and they were yelling ‘Shots,’ and before I even knew it Hoda was in there pounding something,” she said.
Today with Hoda and Jenna airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
