Jason McCourty shades Giants fans after unreal Saquon Barkley play

Giants fans were catching strays from CBS NFL analyst Jason McCourty.

McCourty was calling Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Jaguars when Saquon Barkley made a highlight reel leap over a Jags’ defender while running the ball.

It was one of a number of impressive plays Barkley had in the Eagles’ 28-23 win at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon.

Barkley of course had previously played for the Giants, who have had a dismal season this year at 2-7 after a loss to the Commanders on Sunday, and left via free agency in the spring.

Safe to say it has been tough for Giants fans to swallow seeing Barkley excel for the team’s chief rival, and McCourty couldn’t help but rub salt in the wound during the CBS broadcast on Sunday.

“Poor Giants fans that are just at home watching as Saquon Barkley is just doing what he does,” McCourty said while a replay of Barkley’s reverse-hurdle was shown.

Barkley finished the afternoon game with 159 yards on 27 carries while adding an additional 40 yards receiving and scoring two total touchdowns.

Following the game, Barkley became the third player in Eagles history to record 1,000-plus scrimmage yards and eight-plus touchdowns in eight games, according to ESPN’s Tim McManus.  He joins LeSean McCoy and Brian Westbrook.

“I kind of just played ball. I kind of just let go and let my body react,” Barkley told CBS Sports about the hurdle. “That play was cool and all. There’s a lot of stuff in the second half that I have to clean up. Take care of the ball in situational football, but that’s the beauty of football. You have to have each other’s backs. And the defense had my back today and most importantly got the win.”

The Giants split with Barkley played out on HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants” and fans of Big Blue have seen week in and week out the player that they’re missing now.

And the announcers don’t seem to shy in reminding them either.
