In the world of social media, it’s easy to compare your house, wardrobe, or, heck, even cake-making abilities with strangers online.
One mom was given a very important reminder after her so-called cake fail.
“It’s Bluey!”
Every second party you attend is probably Bluey-themed, and the show has become an absolute global hit with both kids and adults.
The mom posted several pictures of a cake she made for her little one’s birthday, and the hundreds of comments shared surprised her.
“Today is my daughter’s 4th birthday, and I attempted to make her a Bluey cake,” the mom said on Facebook.
“It looks terrible but her saying ‘IT’S BLUEY I LOVE IT’ made the 2 hours it took to decorate so worth it.”
The mother shared photos of her homemade cake, featuring an icing depiction of Bluey along with the catchphrase “4 real life!”
Despite the cake not turning out exactly as she had expected, she received numerous comments praising her efforts.
“It’s amazing!”
“It looks terrible in your eyes but in your daughter’s eyes, this will be the most beautiful and spectacular cake!” said one commenter.
“I am laughing but in a complete genuine, love it kind of way… Totally looks better than anything I would attempt,” said another.
“I see a cake that you put all your effort into and I think it came out amazing!!!!!” another said.
Many others shared their admiration for the cake, with one person even requesting that a similar one be made for them.
“Your very own duck moment”
Other enthusiasts promptly drew parallels between the cake shared by the original poster and the duck-themed cake Bandit attempts to create for Bingo’s fourth birthday celebration in the second season episode titled ‘Duck Cake.’
“Hey you can tell what it is!” said a commenter.
“Bluey also taught us with duck cake that things don’t always have to be perfect to make our kids happy. The best part is the time and care you took making it special.”
Another joked, “Sounds like ‘someone’ needs to watch/rewatch how Bandits duck cake mishap turns out, lol.”
“This is the equivalent to duck cake! What we think is terrible is really everything to our little ones! We can learn so much from our kids,” echoed another.
“That’s what matters, right?”
We circulated the image around the Kidspot community, and everyone agreed that the mom’s effort far outweighed the end result.
“Oh, bless her heart! Her cake might not be perfect, but I wish I had seen her daughter’s face light up when she saw it,” said Keira, a mum of three.
“That’s what matters, right?”
Mum of two, Alex joked and said, “I think we need to start a support group for moms stressed out by Pinterest birthday cakes!”
And dad of two, Mitch, told us, “Let’s be real, not all of us are baking wizards! But if it brings a smile to the kiddo’s face, mission accomplished!”
Lasting memories
In the whirlwind of parenting, it’s easy to get caught up in the quest for perfection, especially in the age of documenting your whole “picture-perfect” life.
But sometimes, it’s the imperfect moments that become the most cherished memories.
Whether it’s a lopsided cake, a messy craft project, or a failed attempt at a Pinterest decor hack, what truly matters is the joy it brings to our children’s faces.
