A House Transportation & Infrastructure subcommittee is holding a hearing Wednesday entitled “From Headquarters Building to Field Offices: Examining the FBI’s Real Estate Needs and Strategy.”
Funding for a new FBI headquarters has spurred controversy among both parties. Republicans question the provision of such a large sum for a federal agency they believe has been overstepping its mandate. Virginia Democrats, along with some Congressional Republicans from the state, have taken exception over the Maryland location chosen.
The meeting of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
