It seems like every celeb in Hollywood descended on the front steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Monday (May 6) for the annual Met Gala. The evening’s theme, Garden of Time, may have eluded some, but there were plenty of notable looks for Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager to weigh in on during this morning’s broadcast.
For Bush Hager, some of the evening’s dresses appeared quite uncomfortable to wear.
“This shows probably my age and other things,” Bush Hager began. “But you know when you go to a party and you feel uncomfortable and you’re feeling squeezed?”
After Kotb noted that “everyone was being squeezed” that evening, Bush Hager pointed to the elaborate corset dress Kim Kardashian wore that evening. The John Galliano for Maison Margiela gown featured an impossibly tight waist.
“Kim K’s waist was that big,” Kotb said as she made a circle with her hands to illustrate the dramatic effect of Kardashian’s dress.
“She looked amazing and I felt like she was probably like,” Bush Hager said before taking a big, deep breath to signify that Kardashian probably had trouble breathing in the dress.
Kotb appeared to agree, joking that Kardashian likely wanted to “rip” the dress off. “She wanted out,” she said.
“She wanted to unbutton that as fast as she could,” Bush Hager said in agreement.
The co-hosts were later joined by Jenna Lyons, June Ambrose and Zanna Roberts Rassi to unpack the evening’s best looks. They fawned over Camilla Cabello’s unique choice of accessory (a block of ice encasing a copper rose) when Bush Hager took the opportunity to poke fun at her co-host.
“By the way, Hoda likes to take a Ziploc bag. I feel like she could rock an ice,” she joked.
“I could have!” Kotb agreed.
