The wait for Caitlin Clark’s WNBA preseason home debut with the Fever is now less than expected.
Due to the Knicks and Pacers finishing their respective first-round series on Thursday, a scheduling conflict arose with the Fever’s schedule.
Indiana was originally expected to face the Dream on May 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but the season-opening contest will now be on May 9.
The Pacers are scheduled to host the Knicks in Game 3 of the second round at 7 p.m. on May 10, which prompted the change.
The Fever and Clark begin their regular season on the road on May 14 against the Sun.
Clark’s regular-season home debut will be against the Liberty two days later.
The No. 1 overall pick in last month’s 2024 WNBA Draft is expected to be a key component of an improved Fever roster.
The Fever finished last season 13-27 — last in the Eastern Conference.
It was an eight-win improvement from their 5-31 record in 2022, which was their third consecutive single-digit win season.
The Fever last made the playoffs in 2016, where they finished 17-17 and lost in the first round of the post-season against the Phoenix Mercury.
