You can still feel the Kenergy.
Ryan Gosling announced during his opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” that he has had to “break up” with his “Barbie” character Ken — but not before one final sendoff.
“I’m here because of my new movie, ‘The Fall Guy’ with Emily Blunt,” Gosling, 43, told the cheering crowd. “So don’t worry, I’m not going to make any jokes about Ken because it’s not funny. Ken and I, we had to break up. We went too deep, and it’s over.”
“So I’m not going to talk about … actually, I’m gonna talk about it a little bit,” he continued. “When you play a character that long, that hard… just letting go feels like a breakup.”
According to the “Place Beyond the Pines” actor, only one thing can help when it comes to processing a breakup — the entire Taylor Swift discography.
As the audience cheered, Gosling sat at a piano and put on a pair of shades reminiscent of the ones he wore while playing Ken in the Greta Gerwig film.
Gosling also donned the mink coat he wore in the film before belting out a Barbie-themed version of Swift’s “All Too Well.”
Midway through the tune, the Hollywood hunk’s ballad was interrupted by his “The Fall Guy” co-star Emily Blunt who chastised Gosling him for still talking about “Barbie” when he had a new movie to promote.
Blunt famously appeared in last year’s “Oppenheimer,” which was pitched as “Barbie’s” box-office rival.
The competition between the two blockbusters was dubbed “Barbenheimer,” and Blunt was eager to get in some final digs at Gosling.
“What are you doing?” Blunt, 41, asked incredulously. “We had a whole ‘Fall Guy’ monologue planned with a bunch of stunts. It was going to be epic. I was going to hit you with things, and instead, you’re singing about Ken again.”
Gosling then joked that the song was not unrelated as he sings the ballad in “The Fall Guy” and stated: “In a way, I’m doing exactly what we talked about.”
“Do you believe that though Ryan?” Blunt asked, well, bluntly.
“Take the fur coat off . You’re embarrassing yourself,” the “Devil Wears Prada” star admonished. “Guys, I don’t mean to be harsh, but Ryan you have to move on. It’s time.”
Gosling claimed that he understood, but couldn’t move on, continuing to belt out his tune.
He was joined by several Barbies, who made their way onstage while Blunt threw up her hands up in frustration.
“That’s how this is gonna go,” Blunt stated, while whacking Gosling with a beer bottle. “You are a stuntman and you can take a hit and look how cool that was.”
“Ken is dead,” she stated, before Gosling brought up their “Barbenheimer” beef.
He claimed “Oppenheimer” was an “inferior movie” to “Barbie.”
“We literally won everything,” Blunt reminded him, to which Gosling said, “Yeah, but did you win people’s hearts?”
Realizing that she did miss the movie, Blunt finally joined Gosling in singing a final verse of “All Too Well,” closing out the scene.
Meanwhile, Blunt was not the only special guest star to join Gosling on “SNL.”
Kate McKinnon — another one of Gosling’s “Barbie” cohorts — made a brief cameo during a “Close Encounters” sketch and as before, Gosling struggled to stay in character and not laugh.
The original sketch between McKinnon, 40, and Gosling aired in 2015 and then in 2017.
