Even Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler‘s kids can’t get enough of their beloved movies. On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress revealed that she recently found her daughter and Sandler’s daughter watching 50 First Dates together.
The rom-com, which came out in 2004, follows Sandler’s character as he attempts to make Barrymore’s character — who suffers from short-term memory loss — fall in love with him over and over again each morning.
Actress Emily Osment, who appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show today, said she recently watched the movie for the first time and “sobbed.”
“That makes me so happy,” Barrymore gushed, before telling Osment that even her own children are fans of the flick.
“My daughter and Adam’s daughter were watching it at my house the other night. I was like, ‘Why are you guys watching this? Don’t you get enough of me and your dad?’” Barrymore recalled. “And they were just so happy. I was like, ‘Oh, but this is so sweet and wonderful.’”
The host noted that it was a “comforting” feeling to see their kids watching their movie, adding, “Your kids will, a lot of the time, reject so many things about you that when you see them embracing something, you’re like, ‘Oh, how fantastic.’”
Barrymore and Sandler have starred in three movies together over the last 26 years: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended.
While it’s been an entire decade since they released a new project together, Barrymore revealed in a February 2023 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show that she and Sandler — whom she often calls her “cinematic soulmate” — were “definitely talking about” teaming up for another movie.
“There’s conversations to find the thing,” Barrymore added. “I think it’s very script-story-specific. And yeah, we’re actively seeking the right thing. I’ll just leave it at that.”
