Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Release Date:
Another week without a new episode leaves us to once again question when is Yellowstone‘s Season 5, Part 2 release date? We wish we had more specifics for you, but all we know at the moment is that Yellowstone is set to return at some point in November 2024 on Paramount Network. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: With so many moving parts and the Kevin Costner of it all still being worked out, the predicted premiere month can always change, but here’s hoping a recent Puck report, which claimed Part 2’s “final episodes” are “already written” and will being filming shortly is based in truth.
Is Kevin Costner Leaving Yellowstone Or Will John Dutton Return In Season 5, Part 2?
It feels like a tale as old as time at this point: When Yellowstone Season 5, Part 1 wrapped filming, explosive reports suggesting bad blood between Sheridan and Yellowstone star and executive producer Kevin Costner came out, leading fans of the series to question if Costner’s Yellowstone journey came to an end. In May 2023, fans heard the actor would be leaving the Yellowstone franchise after Season 5, with subsequent reports claiming he wouldn’t return until he approved of the way John Dutton would be written off the show.
In a June 2023 interview, Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter that he was “disappointed” by Costner’s exit, but assured fans, “I don’t do fuck-you car crashes… Whether [Dutton’s fate] inflates [Costner’s] ego or insults is collateral damage that I don’t factor in with regard to storytelling.” Per People, when asked if he will be receiving his salary for the second half of Season 5, Costner detailed struggles experienced while negotiating, saying, “I will probably go to court over it.”
Heading into Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2, Costner’s level of involvement remains unclear, but thanks to an interview with Entertainment Tonight, we have updated comments from him. “I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to,” Costner said. “I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”
Only time will tell what — if anything — Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 has in store for the Dutton patriarch, but it’s nice to hear he hasn’t fully given up on the ranch just yet.
When Does Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga Premiere?
Speaking of Kevin Costner, we interrupt your regularly scheduled Yellowstone updates for some exciting news on Costner’s upcoming multi-part Western movie Horizon: An American Saga, — which he starred in, directed, co-wrote, and produced.
We already knew that Part 1 was scheduled for a June 28 release, and Part 2 was set to premiere on August 16. But now the highly-anticipated Western will make its world premiere on May 19 at the Cannes Film Festival. Per Variety, Costner released a statement, “thank[ing] the Festival de Cannes for including [his] film Horizon, An American Saga in this year’s selection,” and noting that “it’s been 20 years since [he’s] had the pleasure of being on the Croisette.”
“I’ve been waiting for the right time to return and I’m proud to say that this time has come,” Costner continued. “Horizon, An American Saga is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported films and believed deeply in filmmaking. Just as I believe deeply in my film.”
Will Yellowstone Have A Season 6?
OK, back to Yellowstone! In May 2023, it was confirmed that Yellowstone Season 5 would be the show’s final season. That means once Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 wraps, Yellowstone as we know it ends. That said, there are plenty more shows in the Taylor Sheridan-verse to look forward to…
Yellowstone Spinoffs Updates: The Status Of 1944 and 2024
Though Yellowstone is ending, two new Yellowstone spinoffs — currently titled 1944 and 2024 — are beginning. Specific plot details for 1944 or 2024 have yet to be released, but Variety reports we can expect 2024 to start airing after Yellowstone ends — hopefully in 2024 to stay true to its title! The show will allegedly feature “new cast members and locations with some crossover characters as well,” and it’ll potentially star Matthew McConaughey, who’s been rumored in a Yellowstone spinoff since April 2023.
