A married father of two was killed in an ugly bar fight while on a friend’s bachelor party in Baton Rouge over the weekend, authorities and family said.
Louisiana resident Devin Michael Repath, 26, was knocked out cold after he was hit during a fistfight at around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday at Fred’s Bar near LSU’s campus, Baton Rouge police said.
He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and died early Tuesday morning, police said.
The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office ruled the manner of death homicide due to blunt force trauma, WAFB reported.
No arrests have been made as police are reviewing surveillance footage and tracking down everyone who was involved in the fatal fight.
”There’s a lot of unknowns right now,” East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said, according to the station.
“We’ll have to wait and see what the facts and evidence show the proper decision should be.”
The fight started inside the bar and then spilled outside into the parking lot, Baton Rouge police chief TJ Morse said during an unrelated press conference on Monday, according to The Advocate.
Repath’s family said he was in town for a bachelor party, according to WAFB.
He leaves behind a wife and two young sons, according to a fundraising page started for the grieving family.
“On behalf of both families, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time,” a GoFundMe page stated. “Together, let’s honor Devin’s legacy.
