She’s just scratching the surface.
Dr. Azadeh Shirazi, a board-certified dermatologist based in Southern California, is sharing the three things she would never do to her skin or hair.
“Never do I Ever,” Shirazi captioned her March TikTok, which has attracted more than 37,400 views.
She begins the 32-second clip by claiming to never scratch bug bites for fear it would lead to a small, benign lump known as dermatofibroma.
“Instead, I ice it, apply a medicated cream like Soothe HC, and cover it with a pimple patch,” Shirazi explained.
Soothe HC — which contains aloe vera and hydrocortisone, among other ingredients — is part of Shirazi’s retail line, AziMD Skincare. The 2-ounce tub sells for $43 online.
Shirazi says she also makes sure to apply sunscreen to her lips, around her eyes, and on her ears.
“I remove a lot of skin cancer from these delicate skin areas,” she noted, adding that her EyeGlow AM SPF50 ($73) is designed for eyelid skin.
And finally, Shirazi says she never dries her hair by rubbing it with a towel.
“Hair that’s wet is at its most fragile state. It’s best to press and squeeze the hair into the towel,” she reasoned.
Shirazi, who has 1.9 million TikTok followers, has also revealed the five supplements she takes daily and methods for cleaning makeup sponges to avoid fungal or bacterial growth.
