‘Dancing For The Devil’s Miranda Derrick Claims She’s Received “Hate Mail, Death Threats” Since The Netflix Doc Premiered

Dancing for the Devil subject Miranda Derrick is speaking out about the negative consequences the shocking Netflix documentary has had on her life and family since its May premiere.

In a vulnerable video shared to her Instagram yesterday (June 10), Derrick, who did not participate in the documentary series, revealed, “Before this documentary, my husband and I felt safe. Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been put in danger. We have both been followed in our cars, we have received hate mail, death threats, people have been sending us messages to commit suicide, and we’ve been stalked.”

She added, “Someone said that, ‘If I see you on the street, I’m going to come and get you so you better get security.’ Someone also said that, ‘If I see you walking on the sidewalk, I’m going to come and shove you in the trunk of my car.’”

The documentary series tells the story of how Derrick became estranged from her family after she moved to Los Angeles and signed with 7M, a church-affiliated management company, 7M Films. The series claims that dancers who worked with the company were encouraged to stop talking to their loved ones, while also forking over much of their earnings to the church.

Derrick currently lives with her husband, James “BDash” Derrick, who was also a member of 7M. Miranda pointedly called out her estranged family, noting that the documentary series may have jeopardized their relationship even further.

“I don’t understand how my parents and my sister thought that this documentary would help me or our relationship in any way,” she said in the video.

“I have been getting together with my family for the past couple of years, privately, to work on our relationship, to make things right, to mend what has been broken,” she said. “I’ve been loving getting together, laughing, just enjoying each other’s company. And this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that.”

Miranda previously shut down the claims raised in Dancing for the Devil, saying, “I am just a woman living my life. I am not a victim, I am not in any harm, I am not being abused.”

Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult tells the shocking story of how the Los Angeles management company isolated a group of TikTok dancers, controlled their careers, and convinced them to abandon their families under the leadership of 7M CEO Robert Shinn.

It’s believed that the management company is an extension of the invite-only church of Shekinah, where Shinn has been a pastor for decades. Shinn was accused of displaying controlling behavior over clients and members in the documentary series.

Shinn is currently facing a lawsuit from former dancers who accuse him of “brainwashing, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, manipulation, and exploitation.”

Dancing for the Devil is streaming now on Netflix.
