DA Fani Willis personally helping with court response to affair

Embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is personally helping to prepare a court response due Friday against a bid to have part of the Georgia election fraud case tossed based on her alleged affair with the lead prosecutor she appointed — a claim she may not even deny, sources said.

Willis’s office has until Friday to file papers opposing Trump co-defendant Mike Roman’s attempt to have the criminal charges against him dropped on conflict-of-interest grounds based on Willis’ alleged affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Roman’s lawyer claimed that Willis paid Wade an unusually high salary to lead the case against Donald Trump — and his 14 co-defendants — despite Wade’s lack of prosecutorial experience and she then benefitted from his pay when he treated her to vacations. Other defendants including the former president have since joined in Roman’s motion.

Willis has personally helped to compose her office’s written response to the motions and she may not even address the affair allegations — but will instead focus on the legal problems with the arguments, CNN reported, citing sources.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee scheduled a court hearing for Feb. 15 for the sides to debate the issue and Roman’s lawyer has subpoenaed Wade and Willis to answer questions under oath during the proceeding — though the duo may try to get out of publicly testifying.

Wade’s divorce case was also dragged into the public spotlight after his estranged wife Joycelyn Wade sought Willis’ testimony and argued that Wade was spending money on his alleged flame while he gave his ex a paltry sum of money each month.

A hearing had been set in the case for Wednesday, but the Wades reached a temporary settlement in the 25th hour Tuesday, cancelling the hearing — where Nathan may have been asked questions about the affair.

To date, Willis hasn’t addressed the affair allegations but has accused the scrutiny of her as being racially motivated.

Reps with the DA’s office didn’t immediately return a request for comment Thursday.
