Corey Burke accused of killing father Timothy Burke with ice ax

A 33-year-old Seattle woman killed her father with an ice ax after the pair got into an argument over keeping the lights off on Election Day, prosecutors alleged last week.

Corey Burke, who “appeared to be having a mental health crisis,” is accused of murdering Timothy Burke, 67, inside their Seattle home around 8 p.m. last Tuesday, King County prosecutors wrote in charging docs obtained by The Post.

Authorities spotted Corey leaving the house in Rainier Valley with blood on her face after she allegedly broke windows in the home.

When police went inside, officers found Timothy’s body with wounds to his head and torso, including 2-inch lacerations to his rib cage, the docs stated.

Another puncture wound was near the base of his skull.

A silver-and-blue ice climbing pickaxe with blood on it was also found by cops.

Corey, who was sent to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, allegedly confessed to investigators the next day that she killed her father with the ax and also by strangling him. She also admitted to biting her father while choking him, the docs alleged.

“Corey stated … when her father started arguing with her, about the lights being shut off, that she ‘just freaked out,’” according to the documents.

“The defendant told Detectives that she knew that she could not convince him to keep the lights off, so she went upstairs retrieved an ice axe and tripped her father, strangled him with the axe and her hands and then bit him and hit him several times in the head and side with the blunt and sharp ends of the ice axe,” according to a case summary by the prosecutor’s office.

The daughter was charged with first-degree murder. She’s being held at the county detention center on $2 million bail, according to court records.

Corey had painted a fraught relationship with her father, telling police she felt “hyper focused and disorganization when it came to her own attachment to her father,” according to the docs.

She did “not seem fit to take care of herself” and was a danger to herself, the court paperwork states.

Her arraignment is pegged for Nov. 21.
