Jonah Laulu thought he was being punked.
The standout Oklahoma defensive tackle finally got drafted after a long wait, but even he didn’t believe it.
Laulu received a call from Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard that he questioned the reality of.
“Welcome to Indy, man,” Ballard said over the phone. “We’re drafting you right here.”
Laulu responded, “That’s not a prank call, is it?”
Ballard insisted, “It’s not a prank call, I promise you,” and laughed loudly while on the call.
Laulu was drafted in the seventh round at No. 234 overall with the Colts’ final pick of the week.
Laulu played at Oklahoma for the past two seasons.
This past year, he recorded three tackles for a loss and one sack from the interior defensive line while playing on a Sooners squad that ended the year No. 15 in the final AP poll.
