Not even Christian McCaffrey and his fiancée Olivia Culpo can afford a Super Bowl suite, according to the 49ers running back’s mom.
In the latest installment of her and Ashley Adamson’s “Your Mom” podcast, Lisa McCaffrey explained that she won’t be watching her son play in his first Super Bowl in the comfort of a private suite at Allegiant Stadium — where the 49ers will face the Chiefs on Feb. 11.
“We looked into a suite and none of us can afford it,” Lisa said. “Not even Christian, money bags over there — nor money bags Olivia,” who is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and actress.
“So, we’re not in a suite, I’ll tell you that right now,” Lisa said.
McCaffrey is set to make $11.8 million in 2024 and $12 million in 2025 on his current deal with San Francisco.
The proud mom — who’s married to former 49ers Super Bowl wideout Ed McCaffrey — said that she and her family watched the younger McCaffrey’s games in suites throughout the regular season and the playoffs.
Christian and Ed have an opportunity to make history this year, as they would be just the second father-son duo in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with the same franchise according to ESPN.
“MC Hammer was in our suite” for the NFC Championship game when the 49ers beat the Lions 34-31 last Sunday, Lisa said.
McCaffrey played a major role in San Francisco’s comeback win over Detroit, recording two touchdowns and totaling 132 yards.
Lisa described the emotional moment she shared with her son after the game.
“I just ran to him” she said. “The poor guy, I jumped on him and I hugged him. I said ‘I’m so proud of you.’ I didn’t even know what to say. I was just bawling.
“He was a little out of it. He said, ‘I’m just trying to soak this in.”
Lisa went on to say that she’s boycotting Taylor Swift songs until after the Super Bowl, as the superstar singer is dating Chiefs star tight end, Travis Kelce.
“I refuse to listen to Taylor Swift songs for the next couple days,” Lisa said. “I love her, I love the relationship, but we are boycotting any T. Swift songs.”
“It’s hard for me because I have her on my running playlist and everything. But if she pops up on the radio station — my oldest son Max [McCaffrey, an offensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins] and I are big Swifties — nope, she’s dead to us this week.”
The San Francisco 49ers will face the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58 on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.
